i believe that students should be web literate. i believe students should be web literate because it will benefit them and there web search for information skills. if students are web literate they can tell which sites are real factual and which ones are just based on opinion. if students learn about web literacy they can learn how to make their own websites which will help them in there future if they decide to have there own business they can make there own website and etc. schools should provide the students with lessons on what websites are safe and how to use the information on the web as well as how to obtain the information.
2) What skills should all teachers have to be Web literate? Explain.
the teachers should have very good knowledge of the computer and what features the computers have. teachers should have some source of degree in computers and know a lot about the web site address and all about the construction of a website. teachers should know what websites are safe and which ones are not. teachers should also know alternative websites in case some websites don't work or have malfunctions.
3) What role should school filtering play in your school district? Explain why schools should block or not block Web sites.
schools should block certain websites to prevent distractions of students learning. schools should also prevent or block the websites that give non factual information. blocking web sites is good because it gives safety to the school as well as the students. some websites tend to have viruses so blocking certain websites will prevent the virus to be on the computer.
4) Do you believe the Internet is as big a transformer of culture as the printing press? Explain.
yes the internet is a very big transformer. it provides world wide information in a click of a button. the internet shows alot of things. it knows peoples location who they talk to when they talk to that person it also shows when and what websites a person goes on how many times a day also how many people do certain things. the internet is a big part of life that people include in there everyday life.
5) If yes, what parts of our culture do you believe will be most affected? Explain.
the baby boomers and the next generation from the baby boomers would probably be most affected. this is because they use the internet everyday and with the new technology they use it is used all day long.
